We’ve put our staff to the task to find out what their favorite parts of the Christmas/holiday season are and their picks for shopping this year!
Kelly Florip – 2 years with CRORD
1. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
The best part of the holidays is definitely getting to see friends and family that you haven’t seen in awhile and of course the decorations! I am mad about decorating! And the announcements…engagements, babies, good vibes!
2. What are some of your family traditions for Christmas?
I loved getting the tree as a child and putting all of the ornaments on it that have been in the family for years. Now, I love to see my mom still decorate using the same decorations that she used when I was a child. I could sit and stare at them forever.
3. Are there special foods or recipes that you look forward to during the holidays?
We always have a huge prime rib dinner for Christmas and it is delightful! I also make some killer sugar cookies that my daughter will help frost and sprinkle.
4. Tell us some of your gift giving plans for this year and share with us some of your top picks from Coastal and/or M22 Glen Arbor for gifts this year and why?
I am not a big gift giver, I prefer to do good deeds or make my items. Coastal has some great gift-y items though that I have picked up! The Wild & Wolf mugs are always a cute gift and you can never go wrong with a good pair of Smartwool socks for an easy stocking stuffer!
Dee Shuker – 1 year this coming April with CRORD
1. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Spending time with family and friends. Christmas music and snow. The more the merrier!
2. What are some of your family traditions for Christmas?
We travel downstate to Howell to be with family every year. Baking and decorating sugar cookie cutouts. A hike after Christmas dinner is a must!
3. Are there special foods or recipes that you look forward to during the holidays?
too many to list, but what stands out for me are my sister Sue’s Christmas cookies.
They’re called Russian Tea Cakes, but my family always refers to them as “Sister Sue’s Powdered Sugar Pecan Balls”.
I have 4 siblings and she’s the only one that ever makes them. They’re delicious and special because they come from her.
We always kid her and say, “Sue sure can bake, but don’t ask her to sing!”
4. Tell us some of your gift giving plans for this year and share with us some of your top picks from Coastal and/or M22 Glen Arbor for gifts this year and why?
I’ve done a little holiday shopping at Coastal! Patagonia Black Hole Duffle Bag. Three lucky family members are getting them for Christmas, I just can’t tell you who, ha!
Alissa Norris – 3 years with CRORD
1. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
My favorite part of the holiday season is being with my family and seeing all of the festive decorations.
2. What are some of your family traditions for Christmas?
Baking cookies! Every year my Mom and I spend a whole day baking with Christmas music or movies playing in the background.
3. Are there special foods or recipes that you look forward to during the holidays?
Once again, for me it’s all about the cookies. I make Spritzer Cookies and Corn Flake Mistletoe Cookies. They’re also my favorite.
4. Tell us some of your gift giving plans for this year and share with us some of your top picks from Coastal and/or M22 Glen Arbor for gifts this year and why?
Since my family is large, we do a Secret Santa between all of the siblings and their families. This year my top picks for holiday shopping are The Glen Arbor Village Wine Trail Membership, Yeti Camino Carryall, the M22 Classic Hoodie, and The Vineyard Vines Glen Arbor Custom Coordinates shirts.
Kelsey Williams – 6 years with CRORD!
1. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
My favorite part about this time of year is gathering with family and friends. It’s nice to have everyone back in the same area where we were born and raised in Leelanau County.
2. What are some of your family traditions for Christmas?
Every Christmas morning we open presents at my dad’s house and stay in Christmas pj’s all day and watch movies. You can say it’s a really relaxing day.
3. Are there special foods or recipes that you look forward to during the holidays?
Around the holidays myself or my stepmom will always be making Chex Mix. Once the Chex Mix is made it won’t last long in our house.
4. Tell us some of your gift giving plans for this year and share with us some of your top picks from Coastal and/or M22 Glen Arbor for gifts this year and why?
This holiday season I’ll be giving my best friend, her husband and little boy all M22 tee shirts and a bottle of Crystal River Bubbly.
